About The Instrument
The Leadership Instrument is a standardised diagnostic framework that assesses current leadership capability, identifies development needs, and recommends practical actions for improvement. Developed over 20 years and refined through practical application since 2017, it examines leadership at its foundations—not simply its symptoms.
The Framework
The Instrument analyses three interconnected domains:
- Leader: Personal traits, judgement, authority, style, and influence
- Followers: Individual and group behaviours, needs, motivation, and performance
- Situation: The task and wider organisational, economic, political, legal, and social environment
The Framework
Specialised modules—including power and authority—provide deeper analysis within each domain. By combining quantitative and qualitative methods with insights from psychology, sociology, anthropology, biology, logic, and leadership philosophy, the Instrument delivers sophisticated yet practical results.
How It Works
Assessment: The participant completes a structured survey.
Analysis: Responses are assessed against established Instrument standards.
Development Plan: Findings are discussed and translated into targeted actions.
Implementation: The plan is applied, monitored, and evaluated for progress.
This process gives leaders a clear framework for self-awareness, informed decision-making, and continuous development.
Specialist Administration
The Leadership Instrument is not intended for public or unsupported use. It must be administered and interpreted by licensed, specially trained professionals to protect its accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
Approved practitioners complete dedicated postgraduate training in the Instrument and must have a suitable professional background, such as:

Qualified specialists ensure that findings are interpreted responsibly and converted into appropriate, practical development strategies.
